Governor Wike important member of our party: PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party says Governor Nyesom Wike remains an important member, insisting that current wrangling will not affect the party’s chances in the 2023 general elections.
The party’s spokesman Debo Ologunagba stated this when he spoke with journalists in Abuja.
“The PDP is alive. We are active, and we are working hard on our mission statement. We are working on our campaign council. In a couple of days, it will be unveiled for the people to see,” he explained. “Irrespective of what we are reading in the newspaper, I can tell you that PDP is firm and ready for the 2023 general elections.”
He added, “We tell our members and Nigerians that the PDP is here and the darkness is going, and the countdown has started.”
According to the PDP official, despite the party’s crisis, party members and leaders are committed to addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
“The key is this: the entire members of this party, leaders and stakeholders agreed on one issue: Nigeria is the main issue and that we must rescue the country. We all agreed on this issue, including Governor Nyesom Wike, who we considered an important member of this party,” Mr Ologunagba explained.
Ologunagba added that the party respected the views and contributions of all Nigerians in achieving its mission.
He also said the mass defection of politicians from other parties to PDP was a pointer to the party’s connection with the masses.
“In the last four months, you have witnessed a lot of defection into PDP, which shows our connection with the people, and you saw the impacts on recent elections. Our membership is growing, and people are connecting with us,” the PDP spokesman stressed. “What this signifies is that the PDP is alive to its responsibilities to Nigerians, and we are focused on the mission to rescue Nigeria.”
