A Bauchi State-based group, Al-Anwar lslamic Foundation, has trained 50 female students on detergent and household items processing to enhance social and economic status of women in the state.

The facilitator, Sadiqa Bashir, said this during a one-day skills acquisition programme on Saturday in Bauchi.

According to Mrs Bashir, the exercise seeks to impart relevant skills in detergent and household items processing in the participants undergoing Islamic religious knowledge study at the centre.

She said that such items could be produced for domestic or commercial purposes, and provide livelihood to cater for the family upkeep and other needs.

The gesture, she said, was part of an empowerment strategy towards promoting economic empowerment and self-reliance.

Mrs Bashir enjoined the participants to adhere to protection guidelines in the production processes to guard against adverse chemical reactions.

She said, “Use your personal protection equipment to prevent hazards that will endanger your health and skin. Ensure that you get the correct measures of items required for the detergents and other household items.’’

Also, the Head Teacher of the school, Auwal Haruna, said the foundation was working to equip the students with empowerment skills and new ideas, encourage innovations and strategies to boost economic empowerment besides the regular classes.

He said the programme would develop entrepreneurial skills to encourage good quality processing and packaging.
