The Bauchi State government has declared a two-day break for the state-owned schools ahead of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections on Saturday.

This is contained in a statement by the spokesperson for the ministry, Jalal Maina, on Wednesday.

The state Commissioner for Education, Jamila Dahiru, who said this in the statement, added that the break was due to the adjustment in the date of polls.

“Day schools are to be closed on Friday, 17th and Monday, 20th March, and school activities are to resume on Tuesday, 21 March 2023.

“All boarding school students are to remain in their respective schools during the break.”

He added that the commissioner wished all students and teachers hitch-free elections, reiterating that the state government was committed to their welfare and would continue to provide qualitative education for the betterment of the State.

The ministry had, on February 23, declared a two-day break for the governorship and House of Assembly elections which were earlier slated for March 11.

It said that day students were to remain at home on Friday and Monday before the elections were shifted to March 18.
