I prefer healthy Osinbajo to Tinubu as president: Obi

“The person (Tinubu) brought out today, not as if he cannot do things. Twenty years ago, maybe. Because the country needs somebody like him 24 hours working.”

Peter Obi of Labour Party says the All Progressives Congress should have given a “healthy” Vice-Pesident Yemi Osinbajo its presidential ticket instead of now-Presidemt-elect Bola Tinubu.

Mr Obi believes Mr Tinubu is not healthy enough to face the rigours of running a country.

“I want to see Nigeria work. I don’t hide it; any day any time. I even confronted APC. If you want it to work, why didn’t you bring Osinbajo?,” Mr Obi said. “Let’s have the place working for everybody so that we have people who want to work for the country and are healthy and good.”

The former Anambra governor made this statement in a viral video of his visit to Dele Momodu’s London home shared on Tiwtter on Wednesday.

Speaking further, Mr Obi said, “The person (Tinubu) brought out today, not as if he cannot do things. Twenty years ago, maybe. Because the country needs somebody like him 24 hours working.”

Mr Tinubu won the APC ticket, defeating Mr Osinbajo and other candidates who contested in the June 2022 presidential primary.

He went ahead to win February 25, 2023 presidential election defeating Mr Obi and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Messrs Obi and Abubakar are contesting the victory at the tribunal.

Bayo Onanuga, spokesman for Mr Tinubu, did not respond to Peoples Gazette’s request for comments per Mr Obi preference for the vice-president.

Laolu Akande,  Mr Osinbajo’s media aide, did not reply to a similar request by The Gazette.
