Delta State governor-elect, Sheriff Oborevwori, says his administration will consolidate on the achievements of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that, “more importantly, we will change the face of Warri.”

Mr Oborevwori, also the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, said this when the leadership of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba on Thursday.

He assured the NUJ that his administration would run an open-door policy, saying that every relevant group and institutions would be carried along.

He said that his administration would

ensure adequate collaboration and synergy with relevant groups and institutions in the state to drive his “MORE” agenda.

In his remarks, the NUJ Chairman in the state, Michael Ikeogwu, said that members of the union were in Mr Oborevwori‘s office to congratulate him on his victory at the just concluded general elections.

Mr Ikeogwu said that though the task ahead for the governor-elect was enormous, there was no doubt that he had the ability to lead the state.

“Being the longest serving speaker of the state Assembly since the creation of Delta, we have no doubt that you have all it takes to lead the state.

“We are proud of you and we will do whatever we can to ensure that you succeed as governor of the state,” the union chairman said.

He also commended the  governor-elect on his open-door policy and advised him to sustain the tempo even after swearing-in.

“We pray for God’s wisdom upon you to pilot the affairs of the state.

“Please try to keep the friends you have made, more friends will come because you have been elevated.

“Those who are coming may have worked for the others to come in during the poll.

“But we charge you to be mindful of what will happen between now and when you are sworn in into office,” Mr Ikeogwu advised.
