Ibadan: Fire razes shops, destroys properties at Sango
Oyo State Fire Services Agency has confirmed that fire razed eight shops and destroyed properties worth millions of naira in an inferno incident that happened beside the Sango Police Division Headquarters in Ibadan.
The chairman of the agency, Moroof Akinwande, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday.
Mr Akinwande said the fire on Monday destroyed eight of 84 shops in the area.
He said the agency received a distress call about the incident at exactly 12:43 p.m. on Monday, via a telephone call from Mr Akanni, and immediately deployed personnel, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, to the scene.
“Upon arrival, we met eight out of 84 shops engulfed by fire. Firemen promptly launched a coordinated attack on the blaze and restricted the fire from spreading to other shops,” he said.
The agency’s chairman said the firefighting operation was carried out in conjunction with officers from the Federal Fire Service in Ibadan.
Mr Akinwande said no casualties were recorded in the fire incident, and the cause had yet to be ascertained.
