President Bola Tinubu should reorganise the Nigerian military, ex-military dictator Ibrahim Babangida has advised.

“My advice also to him ( Mr Tinubu) as president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, he needs to have a good look at the armed forces to reorient them, retrain them, reorganised them because he is the commander in chief,” Mr Babangida said in an ARISE TV interview, stressing that it is important for the new president to take charge as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

On Monday, Mr Tinubu took over the reins of power from ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Babangida added, “He has to do that because the armed forces have undergone a lot of processes that need to be put together and make it an efficient, well-led armed forces.”

Praising Mr Tinubu as a skilful politician, the former military dictator urged him to deploy his political skills to unite the country.

“I know the president is a very skilful politician. He needs his political skills to unite a polarised nation. I wish him well,” he stated.
