The Olubadan-designate, Owolabi Olakulehin, has told Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State that he is prepared to be crowned the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Mr Olakulehin said this on Friday while receiving the governor’s delegation at his residence at Alalubosa Government Reserved Area (GRA), Aleshinloye, Ibadan.

The delegation comprised Segun Olayiwola, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters; Bolaji Ayorinde, the chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council; and Monsurat Sumonnu, a council member.

The Olubadan-designate said the visit affirmed it was his turn to become the 43rd Olubadan.

“I’m prepared for the throne; God is with me,” said Mr Olakulehin. “God says it’s my turn. I know it’s my turn, and I will not disappoint the people of Ibadanland.”

He assured the governor and the people of Ibadanland that he would not disappoint them, saying his reign would witness peace and development in the land.

Earlier, the chairman of the state advisory council said the delegation came to great Mr Olakulehin as directed by the governor.

However, Mr Ayorinde said the governor would personally visit the Olubadan-designate once he returned to the state.

He said the visit also allowed them to ascertain the health status of the incoming Olubadan, which he described as hale and hearty.

Mr AYorinde assured Mr Olakulehin that his message would be delivered to the governor.

On behalf of the Olubadan-in-Council, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe and Osi Balogun Olubadan appreciated Makinde for the visit.

He noted that the visit confirmed the governor’s support for Mr Olakulehin to be named the next Olubadan.

Mr Adebimpe said the governor’s action also put to rest hearsays that Makinde would not support the enthronement of Mr Olakulehin.
