Residents of the Adamo area of Ikorodu in Lagos State have caught a popular Islamic Cleric identified as Babalola and four of his followers in possession of a human skull and handed him over to the state police command.

A viral video showed a man in native clothing bleeding from one of his eyes. He was surrounded by residents and officers of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps as he put a human skull and other human parts in a polythene bag.

Posting the video on his X platforms on Friday night, a user, @DejiAdesogan, wrote, “Residents of Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, have handed over a popular Islamic cleric and four of his men to the police after they were allegedly caught with a human skull and other parts of a human body.”

Retweeting the post on his own X handle on Saturday, the command’s public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, commended the residents for not resorting to jungle justice while assuring them that justice would be served.

“We commend the good people of Ikorodu for doing the right thing and not yielding to jungle justice. We will ensure justice is done,” Mr Hundeyin said.

The residents revealed that the suspects were apprehended on Thursday and were detained by the anti-kidnapping and cultist police unit at Araro Adamo in Ikorodu.
