The World Youth Centre (WYC) has lauded Alphaden Energy and Oilfield Ltd.’s decision to invest at least $200 million in the development of gas reserves in Bayelsa.

WYC, managers of National Youth Development Centre (NYDC), Odi, said on Tuesday that the indigenous oil and gas firm, under the leadership of Mr Pascal Anyanwu, had consistently demonstrated commitment to creating job opportunities for youths in Niger Delta.

The secretary of the board of trustees of WYC, Preye Ketebu-Brown, made this known while announcing Alphaden Energy and Oilfield Ltd. as WYC’s 2023 Youth Development Champion in the private sector in Bayelsa.

The announcement was made in a statement.

He said, “Through ongoing operations and planned injection of up to $200 million in the gas sector of Bayelsa State, Alphaden Energy and Oilfield Limited continues to demonstrate sincere commitment to creating jobs for youths of Bayelsa state.

“The investment is promoting socio-economic growth and development in the state and the entire Niger-Delta region.”

He said the company had consistently promoted the Project 100 Companies goal of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

Mr Ketebu-Brown said WYC was aware that the NCDMB project aimed to identify and recognise indigenous oil and gas companies with proven capacity to enhance job creation and local technology development.

He said the commitment of Alphaden Energy and Oilfield to gas production had added impetus to Nigeria’s pledge to end gas flaring by 2030.

Mr Ketebu-Brown said Anyanwu and Alphaden Energy and Oilfield Ltd. would be honoured by the Chairman of WYC BoT, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, in Yenagoa at a date to be announced soon.
