The Independent National Electoral Commission published the name of Bashir Sheriff Machina as the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress for Yobe North.

Mr Machina’s name was published hours two days after APC chairman Abdullahi Adamu informed the electoral office that Mr Machina was its candidate for the election coming up in February 2023.

The party complied with a court order of September 28 that certified Mr Machina’s mandate which he won during the party’s primary in May 2022.

The court ruled that Mr Machina won the primary in which Senate President Ahmad Lawan did not take part since he was at the time running to win the party’s presidential ticket in Abuja.
