Aphrodisiac seller, Hauwa Mohammed, popularly known as Jaruma, has been granted bail after spending four days in prison.

The controversial kayanmata seller was initially arraigned on January 25, for alleged publication of false and defamatory information on social media against politician and businessman Ned Nwoko and his actress wife Regina Daniels.

After she was arrested, Jaruma was remanded in prison custody till her bail hearing on January 28.

According to Punch, the presiding Judge, Ismaila Abdullahi, clarified that Jaruma’s remand in prison custody was not a punishment.

“The court did not remand her in custody as a punitive means to penalise the defendant but to make her present and answer to her case.

“By this, I shall be quick to point out that the charge against the defendant is bailable but not ordinary,” Mr Abdullahi said in granting her bail.

The court granted her bail on the condition that a level 12 civil servant within FCT was provided for surety, and adjourned till February 23.
