An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded an unemployed man, Lukmon Jimoh, 38, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly robbing a man of his belongings at gunpoint.

The magistrate, M. F Onamusi, refused to listen to the defendant’s plea for mercy.

Mrs Onamusi ordered him to be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until March 27 for the Director of Public Prosecutions’ advice.

The defendant, who resides at 28, Agric St., Ogijo, Ogun State, is being tried for conspiracy and armed robbery.

The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offences were committed on December 4, 2023 at 5, Balogun Pariola St., Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

Mr Odugbo said the defendant and others now at large invaded the house of Salisu Adelaja-Adeyinka.

The prosecutor said the defendant and his accomplices robbed the complainant of a gold chain, wrist watch and three mobile phones and a cash of N185,000.

Mr Odugbo said that the stolen items were worth N11.36 million.

He said that the neighbour alerted the police who arrived there early and the defendant was apprehended while his other accomplice escaped.

The prosecutor said that a gun and some dangerous weapons were found with the defendant.

Mr Odugbo said the offences contravened Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
