Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections, has called on Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to join in his resolve to ensure the rules guiding contesting elections in the country are respected.

According to Atiku, the reputation of the country is at stake unless justice is delivered in the case of a forged certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC by President Bola Tinubu.

The former vice president disclosed this in a world press conference in Abuja on Thursday following the deposition of Mr Tinubu’s academic records by the Chicago State University.

This came days after Atiku received copies of Tinubu’s academic documents from the CSU upon the order of a U.S. court to aid his appeal at the Supreme Court against the declaration of Mr Tinubu as the winner of the disputed 2023 presidential election.

He said, “This quest is not for or about Atiku Abubakar, it’s a quest for the enthronement of truth, morality, justice, and accountability in our public affairs.

“In line with this, let me call on all well-meaning Nigerians, leaders of thoughts, our religious, traditional, community and political leaders and in particular, Governor Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP and the leaders of every political party in Nigeria and indeed every single person who loves this country as I do and who wishes nothing but the best for this country as I do, to join me in this campaign to enshrine probity, accountability and the basic principles of justice, morality, and uprightness in our country and in our government. This is a task for every one of us,” he urged.

Denying that he stabbed his former friend Mr Tinubu, the former VP said it was Mr Tinubu who had initially betrayed him after he refused to make him his running mate in 2007, to avoid a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
