Jos: Trader bags two years in jail for stealing motorcycle

A magistrate’s court in Jos on Wednesday sentenced a 28-year-old trader, Kabiru Ibrahim, to two years in prison for stealing a motorcycle.
The magistrate, Irene Pati, who sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to the charge, also gave him the option of a fine of N100,000.
She also ordered the convict to pay N500,000 as compensation or, in default, spend another six months in prison.
The prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on January 13 at the ‘C’ Division Police Station by the complainant, Emmanuel Dankama.
Mr Gokwat said that the convict stole a motorcycle valued at N500,000 from where it was parked and sold it to another suspect.
He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
