Aisha Buhari sends all staff on indefinite leave amidst pregnancy rumour

This indefinite leave comes a day after new photos of Mrs Buhari looking heavily pregnant went viral on social media.

First lady Aisha Buhari has sent all staff in her office on indefinite leave amidts pregnancy rumour. 

This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by Mohammed Kamal, her Senior Special Assistant on Health and Development Partners. 

“This serves to inform all staff that the office of the First Lady will be closed for the upcoming festive period of Christmas and New Year. To this end, all staff are requested to proceed on leave, until further notice,” Mrs Aisha said. 

“Please note that official engagements and work can also continue virtually as it was done previously,” she added. 

This comes a day after new photos of Mrs Buhari looking heavily pregnant went viral on social media. 

Peoples Gazette had Monday reported how the photos triggered pregnancy rumours on social media, with Nigerians wondering if she’s expecting a baby.

However, Sulaiman Haruna, spokesperson for Mrs Buhari, who had earlier declined to comment when contacted by The Gazette, dismissed the ‘pregnancy’ photos as fake. 

“Some of di reports na just from mischief makers wey no mean well, you know nowadays pipo fit tamper with fotos,” Mr Haruna told BBC Pidgin on Tuesday.
