JUST IN: Security forces storm Kuje as Buhari visits prison after Boko Haram attack

The president scheduled to travel to Dakar, Senegal visited the prison to gauge the level of damage.

President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday afternoon visited Kuje prison after Boko Haram terrorists breached the facility, and released many hardened criminals.

The small town of Kuje was besieged by many security officials, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Rapid Response Squad and Nigeria police on Wednesday.

Helicopters were also seen circling the prison area to ensure maximum security of the president.

The president scheduled to travel to Dakar, Senegal visited the prison to gauge the level of damage.

Roads leading to the prison have been blocked by gun-wielding security operatives causing panic among residents.
