The Kano House of Assembly has passed the N437.3 billion 2024 budget.

This followed the adoption of the House Committee on Appropriation report at plenary on Wednesday.

The presentation paved the way for the third reading and the passage of the budget.

The speaker directed the clerk of the parliament to produce a copy of the 2024 budget for onward submission to Governor Abba Yusuf for his assent.

The majority leader of the house, Lawan Hussaini (NNPP-Dala), said shortly after the plenary that the budget would facilitate numerous developmental projects for the benefit of the state

“Out of the budget, 67 per cent was allocated for capital projects, while 33 per cent was for recurrent expenditure,” said Mr Hussaini.

He said education got the lion’s share of 30 per cent followed by health and infrastructure.

On October 27, Mr Yusuf presented the budget, tagged ‘Budget of Transformation and Consolidation’, to the parliament for approval.
