The Kano State Ministry of Education has warned its staff to desist from collecting or giving money in the name of posting for selfish reasons.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Umar Doguwa, gave the warning on Wednesday in Kano, while addressing senior staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board shortly after a management meeting.

Mr Doguwa said that corruption had remained one of the key factors undermining the progress of the education sector in any society.

He pointed out that it was time to shun the unlawful act and collaborate in promoting the sector.

He stressed that the state government would deal with any employee of the ministry found thwarting its effort towards revamping the education sector in the state.

The commissioner, who noted that Kano and its people were the main focus of the present administration, called on the staff to work hard to join the crusade towards achieving the set objectives.

He said, “We are not here to make money rather to make Kano great; so the government will not take it lightly with any employee found collecting or giving money for posting as such a person will be dismissed from work. I urge you to redouble your efforts in discharging your duty, avoid partisanship and this government is ready to welcome any employee willing to help in promoting the education sector.’’

Earlier, the Executive Chairman, SUBEB, Malam Kabiru Yusuf, commended Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf for giving the necessary support to the board which he said had progressively changed its operation.

The SUBEB boss assured the commissioner of the staff continued commitment towards ensuring success of primary education in the state.
