A Sharia Court in Kano, on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 25-year-old man, Bashir Suleiman, who pleaded guilty to indecent assault.

The defendant, who lives at Lokon Makera Quarters, Kano, is charged on a count of indecent assault, to which he pleaded  guilty.

The Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, ordered his remand in a correctional centre and adjourned the case until May 18 for summary trial.

The prosecutor, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, had told the court that the complainant, Hafsat Muhammed of Lokon Makera Quarters, reported the case at the Gwale Police Station, Kano, on March 31.

Mr Wada said that at 12:30 p.m. on the same day, the defendant deceitfully called the complainant to an isolated place and indecently assaulted her by touching her private part.
