A Sharia Court in Kano on Friday ordered that a 22-year-old trader, Umar Suleiman, who pleaded guilty to kicking his neighbour in the groin area and stomach be remanded in a correctional centre.

The police charged Suleiman, who lives in Fagge Quarters, Kano with criminal force.

The judge, Isma’il Muhammed-Ahmed, adjourned the matter until July 7, for summary trial.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Abdul Wada, told the court that the complainant, Umar Sani, reported the matter at the Fagge Police Station on June 9.

The prosecutor said that the complainant alleged that at about 8:00 p.m., the defendant kicked Mr Sani in the groin area during an argument and he fell down and sustained injuries.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 165 of the Penal Code.
