The Kebbi government, on Thursday, expressed concern over the killing of two customs officers by suspected bandits in the early hours of Thursday along Dakingari-Koko road.

The officers, Abdullahi Mohammed and A. K. Shehu, were on patrol along the road when they were attacked at about 1:30 a.m. while a riffle belonging to one of the deceased was carted away by the assailants.

The funeral prayer for the deceased was held at Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, which was attended by the secretary to the state government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, who represented Gov. Nasir Idris.

He described the development as sad and prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased and grant them Aljannah Firdaus.

The governor commiserated with the deceased immediate families and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and assured that the state government would provide temporary support to the deceased families.

“On behalf of Kebbi Government, we wish to tender our condolences to the immediate families and the Nigeria Customs Service, we urge you to accept what happened in good faith as nobody will live beyond his or her destined time. May Allah forgive their shortcomings,” he added.

Mr Idris assured security agencies of government support as they push to secure the state and generate actionable intelligence to deal with bandits and other criminal elements.
