Kidnapped PDP chairman Aivoji regains freedom

The abductors had contacted his family, demanding N200 million as ransom.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Hakeem Amode, has confirmed the release of the kidnapped party chairman, Philip Aivoji.

Mr Amode, in a message on Monday, said Mr Aivoji was released four days after.

“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers and to thank you all for your concerns and prayers,” Mr Amode said.

Mr Aivoji was kidnapped on Thursday in the Ogere area of Ogun on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

The party chairman was returning from the PDP South-West zonal meeting in Ibadan.

The abductors had contacted his family, demanding N200 million as ransom.

Mr Amode did not confirm whether or not a ransom was paid before Mr Aivoji was released.
