Kogi Governor-elect Ahmed Ododo has assured the people of the state and Nigerians that 2024 will be their year of redemption.

Mr Ododo made the declaration in his New Year goodwill message on Monday in Lokoja, the state capital.

He said 2024 would be the year when the hope of Nigerians would be renewed, as promised by the APC-led administration under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The governor-elect said the decision of Mr Tinubu to implement the fuel subsidy removal policy was in the nation’s best interest.

Mr Ododo applauded the president for his efforts to rebound the nation’s oil refineries.

“We have gone through the sacrifice period of the oil subsidy removal. From the second quarter of 2024 on, we will bounce back stronger, and our economy will be unstoppable from that point on.

“I call on Nigerians and the people of Kogi to continue to give total support to the present administration as it is working hard to improve the living standards of the citizenry.

“2024 is a year that will herald the arrival of Nigeria on the global stage,” Mr Ododo said.

The governor-elect implored the people to pray for him as he would be taking the mantle of leadership in Kogi, describing outgoing Governor Yahaya Bello as “Kogi’s best governor ever.”

He promised to justify the confidence reposed in him by the governor and the entire people of Kogi.

“For us in Kogi, it is a year of transition. I will be taking over from Kogi’s best governor ever.

“It is a huge task to match the heroics of Mr Bello, but with God on our side, we won’t let down the flag of progress in our dear state.

“It is a big challenge to take over from a hugely successful administration,” said the governor-elect.

He promised to consolidate the achievements of Mr Bello’s administration and urged residents to continue to pray for the state’s greatness.
