Ghanaian immigration authorities have issued a security alert to prevent Boko Haram escapees from Nigeria from entering the country, according to a report.

In a memo issued on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Ghana Immigration Service, it was said that Boko Haram escapees from Kuje prison are “likely” to migrate to Ghana, “considering current migration trends of Nigerians within the sub-region.”

“It is believed that the Jihadist group Boko Haram are behind the attack which saw the use of high-end explosives and guns, that freed all 64 Boko Haram linked inmates at the prison.

“In view of the above, I am directed to inform you to institute stringent measures at all Points of Entry and intensify patrols to deter and intercept all escapees who will attempt to infiltrate the country,” the Immigration boss was quoted to have said.

On July 5, Boko Haram terrorists seized control of the Medium Security Correctional Centre, Kuje in Abuja, freeing hardened terrorists and other criminal inmates.

However, two of the inmates, Kazeem Murtala and Hassan Hassan, have been recaptured in Niger and Nasarawa State respectively.
