Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, has pledged to build 500,000 classrooms in various primary schools nationwide within four years if elected.

Mr Kwankwaso made this known during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bamalli, in Zaria.

Suleiman Hunkuyi, the NNPP gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna State, and other party stalwarts accompanied him on the visit.

According to him, constructing the classrooms is part of the party’s manifesto to enhance easy access to elementary education.

“NNPP is the only political party whose presidential candidate has stepped into over 500 local governments in the country by road.

“This action was to provide first-hand information on the state of affairs and problems bedevilling each community.

“Within the few months, the party has made its presence visible in all nooks and crannies with candidates contesting various positions in almost all contestable seats in the nation,” he said.

Mr Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor, said he would borrow a leaf from what he did in the state during his stewardship by forming a grassroots committee that will move communities forward.

The presidential flagbearer told the emir that the party prioritised the function of traditional rulers and would do everything possible to accord them the desired power.

Responding, Mr Bamalli appreciated the presidential hopeful’s visit and said he craved good leadership after the next election.

The first-class traditional ruler identified insecurity as the major problem of the people in his domain and the country, urging politicians to prioritise security when voted into power.
