Labor Party’s gubernatorial candidate Abdullahi Tsoho Garba has joined other candidates and party executives to abandon the platform in favour of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Mr Garba’s running mate and parliamentary members were among those who disclosed their allegiance to Governor Badaru Abubakar ahead of a campaign visit by presidential candidate Bola Tinubu in Dutse, the state capital.

Mr Garba said their decision to decamp was based on the reality of truth they came across while touring the state for the campaign.

“As you can see, here is my running mate and all the elective positions agreed to dump the Labour Party and join the ruling APC,” Mr Garba said. “People requested us to contest under the Labour Party, but in the course of our campaign tour across the state we all got to know how the APC government transformed the state through projects and programs that have direct bearing with command man.”

Mr Garba also said urges to contest on the Labor Party platform were never original or in line with the state’s progressive agenda.

“If we are contesting for the sake of the progress of our state, it is no doubt that what Jigawa needs is continuity and the best thing is to allow APC to continue driving the force in order not to deviate from the main track

“So from today all of us along with our political allies have joined APC and we vowed to work for its success at the national and state level in the next coming general election,” he said.

Governor Badaru said that APC will welcome and treat the Labour decampees as major party members without discrimination. He added that those who believe that the APC would soon collapse in the state are just daydreaming as the party is coming out stronger to ensure the victory of its mandates both at the state and national levels.
