The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of one Florence Vandi, following the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface.

Devastated by the demise of her boyfriend who was said to have died while receiving treatment at a clinic, the 22-year-old Florence died by suicide after drinking a local insecticide called ‘otapiapia’.

The late Florence, an indigene of Michika Local Government Area of the state, resided at Viniklang in the Girei Local Government Area where she worked in a primary health care centre.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement, said Florence killed herself on Tuesday, December 12.

He said, “The deceased took the unfortunate decision a few hours after the death of her boyfriend known as Nuhu Boniface who died while receiving treatment at the hospital. Investigation further revealed that until her death, Florence was a health worker attached to Girei Primary health care centre.

“The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, who expressed sadness over the incident, advised members of the public to avoid taking laws into their hands.’’
