On Tuesday, a 42-year-old barber, Seun Akinmoladun, was arraigned in Ikeja for stealing his neighbour’s television and other items worth N220,000.

Mr Akinmoladun is standing trial on a two-count charge of burglary and stealing before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred by the police.

The prosecutor, DSP Victor Eruada, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 21, 2023, at his residence.

Eruada said that Akinmoladun broke into his neighbour’s apartment, Mrs Esther Salisu, and stole clothes, a pycnometer, a stethoscope, an LG television, two pressing irons and a Starsat decoder.

The prosecutor told the court that another neighbour caught the defendant in the act and reported the case at a police station.

He said the alleged offences contravened sections 397(1) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The magistrate, T. A. Oladele, admitted Akinmoladun to N150,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Ms Oladele adjourned the case until January 31 for mention.
