The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State command, Olohundare Jimoh, has congratulated the newly promoted Assistant Superintendents, urging them to improve service delivery and uphold the goals of the Nigerian Police Force.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony for the officers at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Monday, Mr Jimoh described the promotions as well-deserved, based on merit and performance.

“This promotion reflects the hard work and commitment of these officers.

“I urge them to continue to dedicate themselves to the service of the police and the administration in Nigeria,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police (I-G),  Kayode Egbetokun, for approving the promotions of 1,848 inspectors of police to ASPs.

He assured Mr Egbetokun that the newly promoted officers would be strategically posted to various areas of police operations and administrative units to ensure optimal service delivery.

The commissioner emphasised that officers should use their new positions to enhance performance, improve efficiency, and maintain discipline within the force.

The police boss also encouraged teamwork, saying that collective effort was crucial to achieving the objectives of the police command.

“The goal is to ensure better service delivery to the public and, in particular, to safeguard vulnerable members of the society,” he said.

Mr Jimoh assured the I-G that the officers would be supported to carry out their duties effectively.

The commissioner said the promotions were a recognition of both past achievements and future potential.

He highlighted the police command’s commitment to rewarding merit, enhancing professionalism, and strengthening the capacity of the force across the state.

The newly promoted ASPs, during interviews with journalists, pledged to uphold high standards of service, embrace new responsibilities, and contribute to the goals of the Nigerian Police Force.

The officers expressed gratitude for their promotions and promised to exceed expectations in their new roles.

Inspector-General of Police (I-G),  Kayode Egbetokun, said her new rank comes with added responsibilities, and she is committed to performing well in service delivery.

Similarly, ASP Ado Bulus emphasised that the promotion demands more from him, and he intends to perform beyond expectations.

“As much as is expected of me, more is expected from me. I will do my best to exceed those expectations,” he said.

ASP Esther Yahaya thanked the I-G and Mr Jimoh for the opportunity.

Mr Yahaya said the new rank carried additional responsibilities, and she pledged not to disappoint the force.

ASP Adeola Lawal described the promotion as a privilege and a grace. She promised 100 per cent dedication in all aspects of policing, including investigations and operational duties.

“I believe this new rank will allow me to make meaningful changes in the Nigerian Police Force,” she said.
