The Lagos ministry of education has extended the deadline for payment and registration of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from April 14 to April 28.

This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos by Orunsolu Adebayo, the Lagos State Examinations Board’s director.

“The examinations board wishes to inform public junior secondary schools, approved private junior secondary and special schools that the deadline for payment and registration for the year 2023 BECE earlier fixed for April 14 has been extended to April 28 2023,” the board’s statement disclosed.

According to the statement, the extension became necessary due to the hitches encountered by schools arising from the network problem and the current economic realities.

“The hitches also range from Central Bank (of Nigeria)’s cashless policy, which made the processes cumbersome for most schools, and epileptic network services, hence the decision,” the examination board noted.

It added that the extension would give room for most approved private and special schools in Lagos yet to register their candidates to do so.

The board said it did not want to deny any schools and their candidates the opportunity to participate in the examination.

“To this end, the examinations board, therefore, implores all affected schools to use this opportunity as excuses will not be entertained after the expiration of the new date,” added the statement.
