Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Wednesday inaugurated the 1.7 km rehabilitated Akesan-Obadore road in Alimosho Local Government, which links five communities.

The rehabilitation is to boost connectivity, security, commerce, and well-being and ease gridlock.

Mr Sanwo-Olu was represented by his special adviser on works and infrastructure, Aramide Adeyoye, at the inauguration.

The governor said 19 projects were completed in Alimosho Local Government alone in four years, adding that 11 road projects were currently ongoing.

Mr Sanwo-Olu said two wooden bridges in the community were being replaced and had reached a 65 per cent completion level.

He said the government was deliberate in boosting inter-connectivity in the council area.

The governor said this accounted for the Akesan-Obadore project linking ljegun, Ijagemo, Ijedodo, Abaranje Okerube, and other areas to connect LASU-Iba road.

He said phase one of Egan road was ongoing, and only the bridge connection was left to be completed soon in the new dispensation.

The governor said there was progress in the ongoing Light Up Lagos project, which, he assured, would reach all Alimosho communities.

He also explained efforts of cleaning canals by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment.

Earlier, Ms Adeyoye, represented by the permanent secretary, Office of Infrastructure, Daramola Olufemi, said Mr Sanwo-Olu’s administration, in its four years in office, pursued THEME’s agenda.

She said it made progress in rehabilitating existing roads, expanding vital highways, and constructing pivotal arterial roads and bridges.

The traditional ruler of Akesan, Oba Nojeemdeen Ogunjobi, giving a goodwill message, thanked Mr Sanwo-Olu for constructing the road, which had been neglected since the colonial era.
