Lagos: INEC urges participation as continuous voter registration begins Monday

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday said it will begin continuous voter registration in Lagos State on Monday.
The disclosure was made at a press briefing held at the INEC State Office in Yaba by the commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Ayobami Salami.
Mr Salami in his address stated that the exercise, beginning on Monday, was aimed at ensuring that eligible citizens were registered to vote.
He stated, “And this can be done at the comfort of our homes or offices, with an online process that will be introduced, before the physical biometric capturing on August 25, 2025.”
He added that the exercise would continue until August 30, 2026, with INEC’s goal ensuring making the process accessible, inclusive and transparent.
Mr Salami urged eligible candidates aged 18 years and above to visit the commission’s website portal, www.cvr.inec.gov.ng, on Monday 18, 2025, to commence a pre-registration, before a physical biometric capturing a week later in all of the state’s 20 Local Government Area offices and the state secretariat of the commission at Birrel Avenue, Yaba.
He added that the exercise would be between 9 am and 3 pm daily, from Monday to Friday.
The commission further stated that individuals who might want to replace damaged or lost PVCs or transfer their voting rights to other polling units, registration areas or wards and those willing to update details such as spelling errors, change of address or marital status could apply for their desired changes.
