Lagos task force apprehends six suspected hoodlums

The task force of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit has apprehended six suspected hoodlums, following a continued clampdown on criminal elements operating on major roads across the state.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced this in a post on his X handle, @tokunbo_wahab, on Saturday.
Mr Wahab said the suspects were apprehended on Saturday on Ikorodu Road.
“The operation, which began at about 9:30 a.m., covered Maryland and the entire stretch of Ikorodu Road.
“The suspects were part of a group that had been terrorising motorists, particularly drivers whose vehicles broke down on the road.
“They were accused of violently attacking affected motorists and dispossessing them of their valuables, using the acts as a means of livelihood,” he said.
According to him, the suspects have been taken into custody for further investigation and prosecution.
“All suspects will be arraigned as soon as possible,” he said.
The commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to ridding the streets of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents and motorists.
