A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Solomon Akwashiki, has urged Nigerians to vote for God-fearing leaders in order to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Mr Akwashiki, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), made the call when some groups paid him a solidarity visit in his office in Lafia on Thursday.

Mr Akwashiki, who is the chairman, House committee on public accounts, assured them of continuous quality representation at the assembly.

”One year is enough to perform credibly well in office. Thank you for assessing me. I have done my best by empowering my people, giving them jobs, and registering JAMB for students, among others.

” I want to assure you of my continuous readiness to put smiles on your faces through the execution of people’s oriented projects,” he said.

Mr Akwashiki said he would respond to their calls on the need for him to contest for Lafia/Obi Federal constituency at an appropriate time.

” I have heard your calls for me to go higher in 2027. I will answer your calls at an appropriate time,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to shun religious and ethnic politics for development to thrive.

” Let’s all shun religious and ethnic politics as hunger does not know religion and tribe.

” Let’s continue to live in unity and peace irrespective of our affiliations”, he added.

Mr Akwashiki pledged to support the groups’ activities to succeed.

He urged them to pray and support Gov. Abdullahi Sule and Speaker Danladi Jatau to succeed.

Earlier, the groups led by their leaders passed a vote of confidence on the lawmaker over his good representation.

They urged him to contest the seat of Lafia/Obi Federal constituency in 2027.

They said that the call was based on Mr Akwashiki’s purposeful leadership, which had a positive impact on the people of the Lafia/Obi Federal constituency.

Mr Akwashiki represents the people of Lafia central constituency at the state assembly.
