Librarians, record managers, others set for UK training
Some directors, record managers, librarians and heads of records units in both public and private organisations globally will participate in training in the United Kingdom from May 27 to June 21.
Also to participate in the training are archivists, conservators, permanent secretaries, administrators and information managers.
This is contained in a statement by the Lead Consultant of Dorato Global Services, Prof. Elvis Otobo, on Friday in Lagos.
Dorato Global Services is into application of effective record management solutions to decrease fraud and eliminate delays in operations of organisations.
According to Mr Otobo, Dorato Global Services will conduct the training in collaboration with the National Archives, UK.
Mr Otobo said that the training would be cutting-edge and tailored for records, archives and information management professionals.
He said that the training would have the theme: “Innovation and Trends for Records, Archives and Information Management: Accountable AI for Records and Archives Management.’’
The don said that the programme would showcase the organisation’s commitment to staying at the forefront of industry advancement.
“This programme will draw participants from across the globe. Aside from the aforementioned categories of participants, we also train heads of examination and records units of universities and other academic institutions, secretaries and administrative staff, those interested in building a career in records, archives and information management and Artificial Intelligence.
“Before now, we have had staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, archivists and records managers from private and corporate organisations, as well as directors of IT-related organisations, as participants.
“Now, building on the success of previous training sessions held in Iceland and the United Kingdom since 2016, we want to say that we are set to host this programme at the prestigious National Archives in the United Kingdom.
“The training will feature two comprehensive runs in 2024. The first run will take off from May 27 to May 31, while the second run will commence from June 17 to June 21. Our facilitators are drawn from globally-acclaimed institutions, including the National Archives (UK), Canada, U.S. and Nigeria. Prof. Luciana Duranti of the University of British Columbia, Canada; Prof. Austine Ohwobete, Crypto Forensics U.S.; Dr Monday Ashibogwu, CEO Billsbox Services, Nigeria; and Prof. Elvis Otobo, Dorato Global Services, Nigeria; among others, are the notable facilitators of the training,” he said.
Mr Otobo said that in addition to the rigorous training sessions, participants would benefit from immersive study tours of institutions such as the British Library, British Museum, University College, London, and the London Municipal Archives.
The don added that the programme’s curriculum covered corporate governance’s pivotal role in archives, records and information management among other topics.
