Isa Ashiru, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, has urged the electorate to come together to forge a common front for the state’s progress.

Mr Ashiru was commenting on the outcome of last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly polls where his party largely recorded success in the state.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, PDP State Campaign Directorate, Reuben Buhari, on Tuesday in Kaduna, Mr Ashiru commended citizens for coming out to vote.

He noted that in spite of the scarcity of cash and fuel as well as other challenges associated with the voting processes, the electorate still demonstrated the spirit of nationalism in participating in the exercise.

“The patriotic sacrifices show both the quest of people to have more qualified and genuine leaders leading them in 2023 and their faith in the democratic process.

“I task the winners to be magnanimous in victory by embracing all,” he said.

Mr Ashiru further identified with those who lost, saying that losing an election afforded one the experience to try again.

He noted that with the conclusion of the presidential and national assembly elections, the path had become clearer for a unified approach toward the governorship and house of assembly elections coming up on March 11.

“Now is the time for us all in the state to bury our differences, close ranks and work together for the success of PDP and for the benefit of the people of state.

“It is now incumbent on us all, no matter our differences, to come together and enthrone a government that is empathic and sensitive to the plight of the masses,” he said.

The governorship candidate also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to critically analyse and note all areas that required improvement in the just-concluded elections.
