A 35-year-old man Stephen David, was arraigned on Thursday before a Chief Magistrates’ Court Kaduna, for allegedly stealing N600,000 from a car.

The accused, whose address was not provided, is charged with conspiracy and stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 2 at Malali Kaduna.

Mr Leo alleged that the accused conspired with others at large to steal the sum from the complainant, Sani Usman’s car.

He said the accused and his accomplices followed the complainant from the bank to where he parked his car and stole the money.

The prosecutor added that the accused was however apprehended with the money, but his accomplices escaped.

Section 217 prescribes a four years jail term for stealing while 287 prescribes three years jail term if found guilty.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until August 17 for trial.
