Man remanded after pleading guilty to stealing iron rod worth N4 million

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Wednesday, remanded a 35-year-old man, Moses Lateef, for pleading guilty to stealing an iron rod valued at N4 million.
The Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, ordered his remand at the Nigerian Custodial Centre in Badagry until October 10, for fact and sentencing.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 5, at about 11.30.p.m at Powerline Area of Oto-Awori, Ijanikin, Lagos.
Mr Ekpo said that the defendant stole iron rod valued at N4,000,000 belonging to the community.
He stated, “The defendant was arrested and charged to court. The offence contravenes the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.’’
