A Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan on Thursday ordered that a 20-year-old man, Mohammed Bello, be remanded in a correctional centre, for allegedly murdering his friend.

The police charged Mr Bello, whose residential address was not provided, with murder.

Magistrate Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti did not take Mr Bello’s plea for want in jurisdiction.

She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until August 22, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Philip Amusan, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on May 3, at about 9:00 p.m, at Idi-Ero village, in Iseyin.

Mr Amusan alleged that Mr Bello caused the death of Oro Mallami, 20, when he decapitated him.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
