Man United confirm Michael Carrick as head coach

Premier League side Manchester United have announced that head coach Michael Carrick will continue in his current position after impressing the club’s hierarchy.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce that Michael Carrick will continue as head coach of the men’s first team, having signed a new contract which will run to 2028,” the club said in a statement on Friday.
The 44-year-old was initially appointed as interim manager until the end of the current season after Ruben Amorim was sacked in January over a series of poor results.
However, Carrick has transformed the club since arriving at Old Trafford, overseeing 11 wins from 16 Premier League games as United finished third in the league and earned a return to the UEFA Champions League.
“Carrick returned to United as head coach in January and was awarded the Premier League Manager of the Month award after victories against Manchester City and Arsenal in his first two games in charge,” the club added.
Reacting to his appointment, Carrick expressed excitement about the opportunity to lead the Red Devils. He noted that it is time for the club to move forward with clear ambition.
“From the moment that I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United. Carrying the responsibility of leading our special football club fills me with immense pride,” Carrick said.
He added, “Throughout the past five months, this group of players have shown they can reach the standards of resilience, togetherness and determination that we demand here.
“Now it’s time to move forward together again, with ambition and a clear sense of purpose. Manchester United and our incredible supporters deserve to be challenging for the biggest honours again.”
