Members and supporters of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos have decided to keep night watches at various wards, local governments, and the state collation center to closely monitor tomorrow’s election’s voting and result transmission process.

The LP supporters are looking to recreate the victory their party achieved in last month’s presidential election as Nigerians head to the polls tomorrow to elect governors and members of state houses of assembly.

Many pundits have predicted that this victory might usher in a new political era for Lagos State.

This planned watch was announced by a popular member of the “Obi-dient” movement, Morris Monye, through his Twitter account, urging his colleagues to share the information widely.

“Lagos Obidients & Support groups, we are sleeping over at all 245 Ward & LGA Collation Centers on Saturday night from 5pm – 6am. Take Generators, Music Equipment, Portable lights, canopy, chairs, food & drinks.

“Community leaders, religious leaders, retired military personnel, civil servants and respected members of your community should be present along with every youth who means well for this country. The Police & Military will perform their constitutional duties!” the post read.

The planned vigil would challenge the threats issued by traditional leaders whose towns have declared that they will be observing Oro traditional rites, which will require ladies and non-indigenous people to stay indoors.

Questions about how the planned traditional rites won’t interfere with the overnight delivery of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials to various voting places at the required time on Saturday have not yet received a response from the Lagos State government.
