A fire in two warehouses in a town in the northern Black Forest on Tuesday caused damage totalling several million euros.

Police said numerous mobile homes, tractors and other agricultural equipment were destroyed.

The owner of one of the warehouses in Keltern near Pforzheim, near the border with France, saw the fire and tried in vain to extinguish the flames himself.

The fire brigade, police, German Red Cross and aid organisation THW arrived with around 50 vehicles and around 400 emergency personnel.

According to the fire brigade, when the first arrived, the fire had already spread to the neighbouring warehouse.

In addition to the vehicles and equipment, the flames consumed almost 2,000 bales of hay.

The fire brigade prevented the flames from spreading to a third warehouse and extinguished the fire.
