The new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa Command, Musa Mala, has assumed duty.

In a statement in Dutse on Tuesday, the command spokesperson, Adamu Shehu, said the new commandant, who took over from Mustapha Talba, had served the corps in various capacities.

“Until his appointment, he was the Zonal Head of Operations at the Zonal Headquarters, Zone D, Kaduna.

“He equally served the Corps at various capacities and in different states including Benue, Niger, Yobe, Borno and Jigawa.

“The new Commandant was a former 2iC of the command and very conversant with the nature of crimes and security architecture of the state and will use his vast knowledge in resolving them,” Mr Shehu said.

The spokesperson said the immediate past sector commander has been transferred to the Zonal Command Headquarters, Zone C, Bauchi.

According to him, the new commandant urged officers and men of the command to live up to the expectations and aspirations of the general public by providing security of lives and property.

“The new commandant pledged to do his best with the cooperation of his men, members of the general public and in synergy with other security agencies to bring crime to a bearable minimum in the state.

“He strongly admonished his personnel to be civil and friendly in their conduct, shun corrupt practice and always exhibit a high level of professionalism,” Mr Shehu said.
