Music producer, 8 others killed in plane crash in Dominican Republic

Puerto Rican music producer Jose Angel Hernandez and eight other people aboard the flight were declared dead after the crash.

A private aircraft belonging to Helidosa Aviation Group, attempting to land minutes after it took off on a flight to Miami crashed in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, killing all nine people aboard.  

Puerto Rican music producer Jose Angel Hernandez and eight other people aboard the flight were declared dead after the crash.

The aircraft’s operating company reported in a statement on Twitter that the Gulfstream jet was carrying two crew members and seven passengers. It said the flight departed from El Higuero airport for Miami shortly before seeking to land at Las Americas International Airport in the Dominican Republic’s capital, Santo Domingo. 

Helidosa Aviation said Mr Hernandez was accompanied by six relatives and colleagues, identifying them as Debbie Von Marie Jimenez Garcia, Keilyan Hernandez, Hayden Hernandez, Yeilianys Jeishlimar Melendez Jimenez and Jesiel Yabdiel Silva.

The crew members identified aboard the crashed airline were Luis Alberto Eljuri and Victor Emilio Herrera. 

The airport shut down operations after the accident, cancelling hundreds of flights.
