NAHCON urged to focus on best hajj operational practices

An expert in hajj affairs, Shehu Muhammed, has urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and other relevant stakeholders to adopt a well-financed system to achieve the best hajj operational practices.
Mr Muhammed, who was a former special assistant to the NAHCON chairman, said this on Thursday at the 2025 Post-hajj Lectures and Awards organised by the Independent Hajj Reporters in Abuja.
Mr Muhammed said that the best hajj operational practice could only be possible when there is a well-financed hajj system working in harmony.
He called for a review of the Hajj Act to accommodate everyone, adding that the strategic annual operational plan should be aligned with the Saudi Hajj calendar.
He also called for an ICT-driven Hajj management system.
Ibrahim Muhammed, the national coordinator of the Independent Hajj Reporters, stated that the IHR was to introduce a new model of journalism that would focus on the interests of pilgrims.
He said that his organisation was working on a framework to partner with the Hajj Institute of Nigeria to train journalists, especially those covering Hajj activities.
According to him, this will acquaint them with the complexities and the uniqueness of hajj operations, a cross-border exercise that involves over 100 different agencies.
