Senator Ali Ndume (APC-Borno) has commended the successes recorded in the ongoing resettlement of communities displaced by insurgency in the state.

Mr Ndume made the commendation on Monday while interacting with journalists during his visit to Gwoza.

Mr Ndume said that the Borno State Government under Governor Babagana  Zulum, deserved commendation for its commitment, adding that in the Gwoza Local Government Area, about 10 communities had returned and were engaged in farming activities.

He said that to complement the state government efforts, a group of Gwoza Concern Citizens initiated by the youths had started mobilising funds from well-wishers to support the resettlement process.

He stated, “I want to commend the people of Gwoza for their resilience and commitment to self-reliance. People are now back and engaged in farming activities in Gwoza town, Pulka, Warabe, Kirawa, Ngoshe, Izge, Limankara, Bita, and Hambagda. The military and other security agencies are doing a great job by providing the necessary security for the people to work on their farms.’’

Mr Ndume also commended the Federal Government over its recent approval for a Federal College of Education in Gwoza, saying work had reached advanced stage with a support of N200 million take-off grant from the Borno State government.

While in Gwoza, Mr Ndume visited some resettled communities and distributed support materials to 2,000 people.

He also donated N10 million as his contribution to Gwoza Concern Citizens fund.
