Niger Governor-elect Umar Bago has promised to complete projects started by the outgoing governor before initiating new ones.

He said this in an interview in Minna on Thursday, saying that all investments of the outgoing administration would not be abandoned.

Mr Bago added that all projects started by the outgoing administration would be completed before initiating new ones.

“I want to thank the people of the state for the genuine love they have shown to us and the trust they have for us by giving us their mandate.

“I am assuring our people of transparency and accountability and to work for the people for them to deliver dividends of democracy,” he said.

According to him, citizens of the state should expect good governance because it is a transition and the beauty of democracy is in transition.

Similarly, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zakari Jikantoro, said that the incoming government would consolidate on the legacy of what the outgoing administration had done in terms of “projects that have direct bearing to the people”.

He said in a separate interview that the party was re-elected based on its performance in the last eight years.

He noted that the incoming administration would work to meet the yearning aspirations of the people.

Mr Jikantoro advised the incoming administration to operate an open-door policy with modifications.
