The president of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, has charged the national U-21 men’s team to beat Egypt in their semi-final match at the ongoing 2022 championship in Tunisia.

The Nigerian team defeated Libya 3-2 in the quarter-final on Friday to secure a place to play in the semi-finals.

“Now, I charge the players to go out with determination in their semi-finals match against Egypt. I believe they will make us proud in the match,” the president said

He said there was no doubt the boys would book a ticket for the 2023 World Cup.

“I watched their match yesterday against Libya, and I saw that the players exhibited a high level of resilience on the court. The federation and Nigerians are proud of their efforts; for them to qualify for the semi-final match is due to good preparation and hard work,” he said.

He commended the coaching crew for the outcome of their matches played so far in the competition.

“The coaching crew showed their tactical abilities in all their games, and the boys played according to instructions, which yielded good results for them. The Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) U-21 men’s ticket is in your hands, and the federation will give you the necessary support when you secure the ticket,” he said.

The team won matches in the stage group, defeating Morocco 3-0 in their first match and beating Gambia 3-0 in their second match.

They lost in the third match against the hosts Tunisia 0-3 and defeated Libya in the quarter-finals on Friday.
