NiMet predicts three-day cloudiness, sunshine from Monday

NiMet urged all Airline operators to avail themselves of weather reports and alerts periodically.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudiness and sunshine from Monday to Wednesday across the country.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja forecasts cloudy skies on Monday with spells of sunshine over the Northern region.

According to it, there are prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna states in the morning hours.

“Later in the day, localised thunderstorms are expected over parts of Taraba, Borno, Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Yobe, and Jigawa states.

“Cloudy atmosphere is anticipated over the North Central region with prospects of thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Kogi and Niger states in the morning hours. 

“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are envisaged over parts of Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory, and Plateau states,“ it said.

NiMet anticipated a cloudy morning over the inland states of the South and its coast in the morning with chances of intermittent rains over parts of Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states.

It envisaged moderate rains over parts of Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Lagos states later in the day.

According to NiMet, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected over the Northern region in the morning hours of Tuesday.

The agency forecast thunderstorms over parts of Gombe, Taraba, Bauchi, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Sokoto states in the afternoon and evening.

“Cloudy atmosphere is anticipated over the North Central region with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa states in the morning hours.

“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau and Nasarawa states.

“Cloudy atmosphere is expected over the Inland states of the South and its coast with chances of rains over parts of Bayelsa and Rivers states in the morning hours, “ it said.

The agency predicted slight rains over parts of Ogun, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, and Cross River states later.

NiMet predicted cloudy skies on Wednesday with sunshine intervals over the Northern region with prospects of morning localised thunderstorms over parts of Bauchi, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba states.

“Later in the day, there are prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna states.

“ Cloudy afternoon/evening period is anticipated over the Central region with prospects of thunderstorms over the entire region in the morning hours.

“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over the Federal Capital Territory and Plateau states, “ it said.

NiMet predicted a cloudy atmosphere over the inland cities of the South and its coast with chances of slight rains over parts of Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, and Bayelsa states during the morning hours.

It also anticipated rains over parts of Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.

“Moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods. The public is advised to take necessary caution and avoid driving and walking through flood waters.

“Strong winds are likely to precede and accompany the thunderstorms; citizens are advised to take necessary safety precautions.

“Disaster Risk Managers, Agencies, and individuals should be proactive to avert loss of lives and property during the rainy season, “ it said.

NiMet urged all Airline operators to avail themselves of weather reports and alerts periodically from its office for effective planning for their operations.
